Last Tracking Day in Sandstone

Today we split into two groups and tracked in the Sandstone Wilderness Management Area. We saw a lot of canine and feline tracks as well as some evidence of beavers and otters. This is very different from our usual track record of deer and other animals. We were tracking in a grassland setting as opposed to a forest, which sparked my interest by the direct evidence of animal presence changing even in the winter with landscape type.

Tracking is a very practical way to look into an animal's life. While a lot of it is guess-work, there is no denying the simplicity of it.

Part of our group at lunch.
